7 WAYS DATING CAN MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE HEALTHIER

Early on in our marriage, LeAnn and I were only able to have date nights once in a blue moon. With a young blended family, it was a real challenge to find babysitters or even opportunities for alone time. And unfortunately, that was enough to convince us that we didn’t need to focus on it at that stage of our lives.

It wasn’t until a very rocky season hit our marriage that we discovered the absolute necessity of dating. And it was then that we realized many ways we could have made our relationship a priority early on, but didn’t.

Among other important things that year, we saved our marriage by recommitting to planning consistent alone time. We started dating again.

So, this list comes from close examination of the struggles and successes of my own marriage. And I am convinced that these are…

7 WAYS DATING CAN MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE HEALTHIER:

  1. It increases and sustains romance
  2. It stimulates conversation
  3. It breaks routine and drives spontaneity
  4. It fosters a deeper connection
  5. It offers much needed stress relief
  6. It often energizes passion and intimacy
  7. It creates an immeasurable sense of security in your children

Dating your spouse creates an atmosphere for laughing and playing together, for healing and sharing deeper thoughts, dreams and goals. It enables romance to grow and helps a married couple find opportunities to bond and connect again in unique and fun ways.

This happened really quickly for us. And after over 19 years of marriage, our connection is stronger than ever.
